Crisis: Mother Earth
Driven by a love of my four grandchildren and all living creatures, and a concern for their future, in 2018 I began painting about climate change. The series, Crisis: Mother Earth has expanded to include other critical problems such as war, refugees, plastic waste, pandemics, gun control and prejudice.
We hear about these problems every day, so often in fact that we may begin to accept them as normal. I am painting the series as a wake-up call. To attract attention and to give hope, I have used bright cheerful colors and fantasy. I wish to stop my audience long enough to get them to think about the problems--how they may affect them, their families and their community.
If we are to win humanity’s most important battle—the battle to save the Earth’s inhabitants, I believe that we must act quickly and decisively. Without a habitable Earth, nothing else matters.
